Full Description

The National Science Foundation (NSF) supports summer research experiences for undergraduates (REUs) in colleges, universities, and other organizations across the country.  Each institution sets its own application procedures and eligibility standards for its REU program.  Students apply directly to the appropriate institution.

Ohio University hosts an REU site for undergraduates (psychology, social work, biology, pre-med, and education) focused on treatment-related research for children with social, emotional, and behavioral (SEB) problems.  Students will “learn all aspects of the research process, including hypothesis formulation, integration and analysis of scientific literature, research design, data collection, data analysis, and the presentation of research findings.”  Students will also “attend seminars focused on statistics, research methods, and preparing for the graduate school application process.”   Among the areas of research covered include the following:

•    Measuring Impairment in Middle- and High-School Aged Youth with SEB
•    Screening to Identify Youth with SEB
•    Parent Preferences for Mental Health Services for SEB
•    Exercise as an Adjunctive Intervention for Children with SEB
•    Integrated Primary Care for Youth with SEB
