Ms. Carolyn Walkup earned a master’s degree ('82) in Education from the College of William and Mary and is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society.  Ms. Walkup is employed with the federal government’s U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).  She serves as a technical advisor with oversight of corporate level training programs in Washington, D.C. and overseas.  Ms. Walkup is the career, leadership and executive development manager for USAID with the Federal Executive Institute, Charlottesville, VA.  She coordinates with the U. S. Department of State (DoS), Foreign Service Institute (FSI) and other interagency partners for policy development related to corporate level training, mentoring and career development. Ms. Walkup served on the DoS Civilian Response Corps (CRC) Training, Education, Exercises Evaluation (TE3) Working Group.  As a member of TE3, Ms. Walkup conducted strategic coordination, policy development and contributed her expertise toward development of the initial framework of competencies and standards for pre-deployment training of the CRC.  She collaborated with the  Department of Defense, Senior Advisor for Afghanistan and Pakistan,  DoS, FSI and the USAID AfPak Task Force in developing key policy that supports training for federal civilian employees who deploy to austere environments where they provide humanitarian assistance.  Ms. Walkup is a charter member of Women@AID and currently serves on the policy development committee of this newly formed USAID Affinity Group.
