Spring 2014 Newsletter

Dear Alumni:

Leo Tolstoy wrote that spring is the time of plans and projects. This spring, faculty and students of the Psychology Department at the College of William and Mary are busily completing research projects and honors theses and making plans for summer and beyond.

On February 28, twenty-two psychology students presented the findings of their research projects at the 20th Annual Undergraduate Science Research Symposium. You can learn more about their research projects and presentations here:

Professor Cheryl Dickter was honored at Charter Day (2/7/14) with the very prestigious Thomas Jefferson Teaching Award that was presented at Charter Day activities. Professor Dickter joined the psychology faculty in 2008 and since that time has established herself as an outstanding teacher and researcher. Congratulations, Cheryl!

Psychology major Hannah Boes (class of 2014) was recently featured by the TEDxCollegeOfWilliam&Mary series for creating “William & Mary Stands with Survivors” (W&M SWS). W&M SWS is a photo series dedicated to showcasing allies who support sexual assault survivors. Check them out on Facebook! Learn more about Hannah and other work she is doing here:

This spring and summer students will be presenting the findings of their research at national and international conferences, including the American Psychological Association (APA) meeting in Washington, D.C., this August. You can help support students and their research and travel to conferences by making a tax-deductible donation to your Psychology Department:

Let us know if you will be attending APA this summer and if you are interested in having a W&M alumni event at this conference. We hope you are having a wonderful spring, and please remember to share your news with us:
