Abdul-Karim Rafeq Becomes Honorary Fellow of MESA

On November 23, 2009, The Middle East Studies Association of North America (MESA) named Professor Abdul-Karim Rafeq, William and Annie Bickers Professor of Arab Middle Eastern Studies, an Honorary Fellow.

 

MESA's Honorary Fellows are outstanding and internationally recognized scholars who have made major contributions to Middle East Studies.  Honorary Fellows are nominated by MESA's Board of Directors and conferred by a vote of members at the annual business meeting.  MESA can have no more than ten Honorary Fellows at any given time.  Other Honorary Fellows are Oleg Grabar of Princeton, Roger Owen of Harvard, Kamal Salibi of the American University of Beirut, and André Raymond of Aix-en-Provence.
