Background

The 2010-2011 season is David Vonderheide’s thirteenth season with the Virginia Symphony. During his tenure with the orchestra he has performed with the VSO in Hampton Roads and in Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. A native of Madison, IN, he holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University where he studied under the legendary Vincent Cichowicz. David Vonderheide has played in the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan, The National Repertory Orchestra, the Breckinridge Music Institute, The Colorado Music Festival and the AIMS Festival in Graz, Austria. During the 2006-2007 season, he participated in the VSO’s artistic residency in Mathews, Gloucester and the Northern Neck giving teaching assemblies, performances and master classes. He regularly performs in the “Organ Swell” concert series. He is an adjunct trumpet instructor at the College of William and Mary.
