Background

Dr. Jamie C. Bartlett is an Associate Professor of Music and the Associate Director of Choirs at The College of William and Mary.   A native of Massachusetts, she holds an A.B. in Music from Mount Holyoke College, a M.M in choral conducting from The Eastman School of Music and a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting with a minor in Musicology from The University of Wisconsin – Madison. Her principal teachers have been Catharine Melhorn, Don Neuen and Robert Fountain. At William and Mary she conducts the Women’s Chorus and the select Botetourt Chamber Singers. She also teaches beginning and advanced conducting, Eurhythmics, and introductory theory classes.

At William and Mary, Bartlett’s ensembles perform extensively on and off campus with as many as 50 concerts per year. In 2005, 2007, 2011, and 2016, the Botetourts were selected to perform at the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference as the featured choir in the college division. They also undertake an international tour with the W&M Choir every three years. Recent tours have included trips to South Africa, Morocco, Turkey and numerous Western European countries. 

A frequent adjudicator, Dr. Bartlett has served as a clinician and guest conductor in several states across the country. Active as a church musician, she is currently the Director of Music at the Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists where she directs the 45-voice adult choir.
