Murray Scholars Program Director
Dan Cristol is in the Marjorie S. Curtis Professor of biology. He
arrived at William & Mary in 1996, after earning a B.S. at Cornell
University, a Ph.D. at Indiana University, and postdoctoral fellowships
at Oxford University and University of California-Davis.
His research focuses on birds - how evolution has shaped them to feed efficiently, migrate accurately, and survive in the face of human disturbance of their habitats. Currently, he is studying mercury contamination in the Shenandoah River with a large number of undergraduate and Master's students. Professor Cristol teaches Ornithology, Animal Behavior, Introductory Biology and occasional seminars. He has two daughters in elementary school and is married to a jewelry artist.
