Hispanic Studies Seniors Take A Field Trip To Washington, DC
| September 29, 2009
On Sept. 11, 2009 Hispanic Studies seniors took a field trip to Washington, DC where they enjoyed a guided tour in Spanish of the exhibit The Art of Power (El arte del poder) at the National Gallery of Art. The show featured art and armor from Spain's Golden Age of imperial power. The Garden Café served us their menú español of imported Spanish delicacies, a buffet coordinated with a yet another exhibit of Spanish still life paintings. In the afternoon we met at the law offices of Davis & Harman whose Pennsylvania Avenue balcony overlooks the Ellipse and the Washington Monument (see photo). There we enjoyed a presentation by Adam Anthony, Director of Wm & Mary's Washington Office and a special presentation and dialog with interns from the Embassy of Spain who explained the structure and mission of their nation's diplomatic and cultural presence in the US and opportunities for student internships in their offices.
