Language House Application Calendar

Language Houses

The academic and cultural mission of each Language House is to immerse students in a living environment that fosters increased language study and cultural awareness. Native speaking International Fellows facilitate conversation hours, movie nights, cultural celebrations, cooking classes and many other activities for all residents.

The language houses are located in residence halls that are ADA accessible in order for students of all abilities to have the opportunity to participate in our language houses programs. The Language Houses are located in two different residence halls; Landrum Hall and Hardy Hall. Please take some time to carefully review the housing process for next academic year.

Note: The Language House Application has closed for the 2024-25 academic year. However, if you missed the deadline and would like to be considered in case of an opening in the language house of your interest, please fill out the 2024-2025 Waitlist Language House Application. The application password is "mll".

After you submit your application, email [[bmtyle, Modern Languages Department]] to schedule a 10-minute interview with the Language House Advisor and the International Fellow. Available spaces will be offered in the order in which the application was received.

In order to apply to live in one of these houses for the 2024-2025 academic year students must:

  • Submit an on-line application to the Modern Languages and Literatures Department by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024. Contact [[bmtyle, Modern Languages and Literatures]] for additional information or questions on the selection process. Note: The application period is now closed.
  • Sign MLL's Language House Participation and Commitment Contract. Each program has a minimum number of required cultural activities and events that residents must attend and help organizing every semester.
  • Sign a 2024-2025 W&M Housing Contract by Tuesday, February 13, 2024 by 5:00 p.m. We strongly encourage you to have this signed by the time of your interview with the LH Advisor and International Fellow.
  • Once confirmed to participate in one of the special interest houses, you will need to choose a room on February 20, 2024 via the Housing Portal.
