In May 2008 Kate graduated with high honors from the Technical
University of Brandenburg, Cottbus, Germany with an MA in World
Heritage Studies, Historical Management and Administration. Her
Master's thesis "Old Monuments in a New Light: Young Foreign Visitors'
Knowledge and Perceptions of the Berlin Wall" was accepted for an oral
presentation at the 2008 ICOMOS conference (the International Committee
on Monuments and Sites). Thus, about two weeks ago, Kate traveled to
Quebec City to present her work. She plans on continuing her work as a
PhD on the perception of the Cold War within the post-1989 United
States generation throughout the next few years. In addition to her
continuing doctoral student status, she has accepted a job at the
National Trust for Historic Preservation at their Northeast office in
Boston.
