Ashley Hoover, Spring 2010. FR 310. Professor Fauvel : On Godard's Breathless/A bout de souffle (1960)  - In this paper Ashley Hoover demonstrates how Godard uses incoherence and discontinuity and destabilizes traditional cinematographic codes not simply to be original, and to create a new type of cinema (the so-called New Wave cinema), but to illustrate fundamental changes in the French society in the 1960s (individualism, difficulties to communicate and to know people well).
