Huang-wen Lai received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and his M.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He earned his B.A. and an M.A. from Fu-Jen Catholic University, Taiwan. He has taught at U. Penn, Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and U. Mass-Amherst. Huang-wen’s current research examines in-betweenness in Japanese colonial literature and culture. He is also researching cinematic adaptations, and social, political, and literary transformations in East Asia from the 1930s to the present.
