Teaching and Research
Maria Morrison is a Visiting Assistant Professor in German. She
received her AB from Princeton University and her Ph.D. from the
University of Virginia, where she wrote on violence in fairy tales.
Prior to William and Mary, Maria taught at Colby College in Maine and
at the University of Bonn in Bonn, Germany. Since 2002 Maria has also
been full-time summer faculty at Middlebury College’s German Language
School. Her areas of interest include Children’s Literature,
translation, and 19th and 20th century literature, culture and film.
Her current project investigates the increased sexualization of the
fairy tale in the twentieth century, particularly in film adaptations
aimed at both children and adults.
