Background

Nicolas Médevielle is with the college since 2009.  He received his Ph.D. in French from the Ohio State University and holds his DEA in Political Science from the University of Rennes. He specializes in French colonial history and his current research focus is on Franco-Western African relations before the colonization. This semester he teaches a class on French composition and one on French colonial history. His research interest includes among others early maritime French exploration, Early modern maps, and the invention of race.
