Title: Matrices and Topology

Abstract: As a undergraduate student I had the variety of courses most math majors do:  Algebra, Linear Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Differential Equations.  It wasn't until many years later, after graduate school in fact, that I realized the nice ways in which various parts of mathematics are related and the rich and interesting collection of problems that can be posed which combine different areas.  This talk, aimed at an undergraduate audience, is a collection of such problems about the topology of various sets of matrices.
