Water Chemistry

Five perennial streams discharge water into Lake Matoaka.  Of these, the two largest streams are monitored quarterly for water quality (College Creek and the campus stream).  Additionally, the outlet to Lake Matoaka at the spillway on Jamestown Road is monitored for water quality.  At each location (three locations that are a subset of the 24 locations in the College Creek Alliance), we measure water temperature, conductivity, pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, coliform bacteria and various species of nitrogen and phosphorus.  These data allow us to track seasonal and longer-term changes in water quality.
