Water Chemistry

Five perennial streams discharge water into Lake Matoaka.  Of these, the two largest streams are monitored continuously for water quality (College Creek and the campus stream).  Additionally, the outlet to Lake Matoaka at the spillway on Jamestown Road is monitored for water quality.  At each location, we measure water elevation, water temperature, conductivity, pH, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen.  These data allow us to determine the responses of the streams and the lake during storm events, and to track seasonal and longer-term changes in water quality.
