Transfer & Test Credit

Transfer Credit

The University Registrar is responsible for evaluating all transfer credit. The full academic transfer policy appears in the Undergraduate Catalog.

Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate

The history department has a few restrictions regarding how pre-matriculation test credits may be applied towards the major.

Students may apply up to six hours of AP or IB credit toward the history major:

  • For the first AP score of 5 or IB score of 6 or 7 in the history of Africa, Americas/U.S., Europe, or Southeast Asia/Oceania, a student receives one course exemption in the relevant geographic area and 6 credits toward major.
  • For a second and third AP score of 5 or IB score of 6 or 7 in the history of Africa, Americas/U.S., Europe, or Southeast Asia/Oceania, a student receives up to one exemption per relevant geographic area but no additional credits.
  • For an AP score of 5 or IB score of 6 or 7 in world history, a student receives up to one course exemption in any geographic area (and 6 credits toward the major if there are no other AP/IB credits).
  • Students may receive no more than one AP or IB exemption per geographic area.

AP scores of 4 and lower and IB scores of 5 and lower will not exempt students from any courses or major requirements.

For more information on College policies regarding AP and IB credit and exemptions, see the Requirements for Degrees section of the Undergraduate Catalog.
