Background
Bill is entering his second year in the program after receiving his undergraduate degree from Trinity College in Hartford. He is currently serving as an editorial apprentice at the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture. His research interests focus primarily on the Early Republic Atlantic World. He is interested in the evolution of distinctly American identities, particularly in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Along those lines, previous subjects have included Elisha Babcock, who published the Hartford American Mercury from 1784-1821, and college students in the 1830s. The topic of his Master's thesis is American perceptions of the Irish rebellion of 1798. After a decade in the book industry, he hopes to be writing his own soon.
