Nancy is orginially from West Chester, Pennsylvania. She received a B.A. from Gettysburg College in May of 2003, and an M.A. from the College of William & Mary in December of 2005. She is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program. Her Master's thesis, "Between Black and White: The Religious Aftermath of Nat Turner's Rebellion," studied the reactions of Virginia evangelicals to state legislation restricting the religious assembly of blacks after Nat Turner's rebellion in 1831. She passed her comprehensive exams in the spring of 2006 and is happily now "ABD." Her dissertation explores race relations among Virginia Baptists, 1815-1870. She is studying the interactions of black and white evangelicals in biracial churches, as well as the establishment of autonomous African American churches before, during, and after the Civil War. She has also worked as a teaching fellow and as a writing tutor for the History Writing Resource Center. Nancy lives in Yorktown with her husband and baby daughter.
