Nicholas received a BA in History and Secondary Education from the University of Richmond in 2005. While there he produced a thesis on Kieft's War, a conflict between native tribes and European settlers in 1640s New Netherland. His findings centered around the attempted use of tributary politics by the Dutch, English, Iroquois, and southern New England tribes to assert dominance over weaker, resource-rich tribal groups in and around Manhattan and Long Island. He is currently pursuing his MA and plans to continue work on similar Native American/colonist issues. His research interests include Early American History (especially pre 1664), colonial New Netherland/New York History, and Native American/colonist interactions.
