Ian Tonat graduated with honors from Carleton College in 2011 with a B.A. in History. His primary focus was on United States history, with secondary focuses in medieval and European history. He wrote his senior thesis on Native Americans in New England courts in the seventeenth century, focusing on how Native Americans utilized the courts to accomplish their goals. In addition to his work in the field of history at Carleton College, Ian also participated in the University of Maryland's Historical Archeology Field School. His current research interests are Native American and legal history in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
