Ian Tonat received his BA from Carleton College in 2011 and his MA from William and Mary in 2014. His masters examines the judicial beheading of Native American men in seventeenth-century New England and how performative violence structured relationships between colonists and Native people. His research interests include North American colonial history, Native American history, intercultural violence, and the early American west.
