Originally from Norwalk, CT, Caylin graduated summa cum laude from Bates College in 2012. While at Bates, Caylin wrote a senior honors thesis on gender in seventeenth-century Virginia. Currently in her second year of the M.A./Ph.D. program, Caylin remains interested in the social history of early America, with a focus on gender and families. Her current research for her master’s thesis focuses on the centrality of the body in understanding household violence involving indentured servants in seventeenth-century Virginia.
