2012 Women's Studies Graduates

Laura Andrew (Women's Studies): Media and Marketing Director
Laura AndrewImmediately after graduation I moved to Brooklyn, NY with my partner, Emma Caterine, who is also a member of W&M's class of 2012. I am currently employed by the queer fashion company Marimacho as their Social Media and Marketing Director. Marimacho designs in-house and locally manufactures masculine clothing for the unconventionally masculine. We just launched our Souvenir Collection, featuring bathing pieces designed with trans* and gender non-conforming bodies in mind. Please visit our website for more information about the Marimacho aesthetic, the community we serve, and the fashions we distribute. I am still adjusting to NYC life and finding my way around... but I am excited for the future and with every day I feel a little more like a real New Yorker. I feel very fortunate to have found work that I am passionate about and utilizes the training and education I received from the Women's Studies department. (2012)

Ryan Morris (Women's Studies)

Ryan Morris

I am currently in my second year of the Master’s of Social Work program at VCU. I am concentrating in policy, programs, planning and administration. In addition to taking classes, I am interning at the YWCA of Richmond where I just recently finished coordinating and executing our domestic violence awareness month events. These included a brown bag lunch series and a community memorial for those who have lost their lives to domestic violence in the past 18 years. I like to think of macro social work as a natural extension of my WMST degree, as I work to promote social justice through my course studies and work. (2014)
