How to Apply

Apply Online

By the department's/program's deadlines, you can apply on-line by clicking Apply to The College of William and Mary or by pasting the following web address into your browser -- http://www.applyweb.com/apply/wmgrad/index.html.  International students must also submit the International Admission FormPlease note, there is a non-refundable application fee of $45 [payable by check or credit card] for all online applications. The following information should be mailed to the department/program to which you are applying by the deadline at the address listed below:

  • The official scores for all three portions of the general aptitude GRE exam must be received from the Educational Testing Service.
  • Official scores for the TOEFL exam, if you were educated outside the US and English is not your first language, must be received from the Educational Testing Service.
  • Three letters of recommendation. (Letters of recommendation can be submitted online for all programs except History.  Students applying to the Department of History are required to submit the History Supplemental Application that includes a program-specific letter of recommendation form.) ** Please note if you choose to have your recommendations submitted online, your recommenders will not be contacted until your application has been submitted online and the fee payment has been authorized.
  • Official transcripts from all institutions of higher education you have attended.
  • Any additional information (supplemental application form, GRE subject test scores, writing samples, etc.) required by the program.
