Advice and Considerations
Assistantships, fellowships and scholarships are awarded on the basis of the application materials. The Graduate Admissions Committee, comprised of physics faculty, recommends admission and financial aid. Typically, only students interested in pursuing the Ph.D. will be considered for aid.
There are usually about 70 resident students in the program, all of whom currently receive full financial support. Full support includes tuition and other fees, student health insurance, and a twelve-month stipend. The stipend is $26,000 per year for the 2017-18 session.
Approximately 10 full-time students are admitted each fall. This number is determined primarily by departmental resources and funds available from state and federal agencies. Adequate resources have enabled us to offer full financial support to all students making satisfactory progress toward their degrees.
