McGlennon Scholars Program
The McGlennon Scholars program is designed to provide William & Mary junior and senior Government majors with significant scholarship aid in order to support their undergraduate study and enhance that study under the guidance of a faculty member of the Department of Government. Funded through an endowment gift from an anonymous Government alumnus, the scholarship will provide awards on an annual basis for several students. Scholarships may be renewed for a second year for those receiving them in the junior year.
Scholarship recipients must be declared majors in Government, but need not have any particular area of specialization within the department. Students will be selected on the basis of their academic record, their academic and non-academic experience, extracurricular activity, internship or community service and other accomplishments noted on a resume, and on a personal statement indicating how the scholarship will allow the student to enhance her or his education in Government. Students with a GPA of 3.6 and above are invited to apply.
Students are encouraged to describe an honors project, independent research experience, special course of study, or other enrichment to their academic program which will be possible due to the scholarship funding. Each student will be expected to produce a final report or project which will be supervised by a faculty member and presented through an appropriate venue at the end of the academic year.
Scholarships will be for approximately $10,000 per year per student. The actual amount may vary slightly.
