Harriman Fellowship, Deadline November 2

Summary

Fellowship support is available for students receiving State Dept. internships.

Full Description

Are you applying for an internship at the U.S. Department of State for Summer 2010?  Are you a Junior or a Senior continuing on to graduate school? If so, then you should consider the Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowship, administered by the College of William & Mary.

Created in memory of Ambassador Pamela Harriman, a former member of the College’s Board of Visitors, this is a nationally competitive and highly selective fellowship established by Memorandum of Understanding between the College and the United States Department of State to inspire the best of a new generation to pursue careers in public service. The fellowship provides a $5,000 stipend to three State Department student interns – one each in the U.S. Embassies in London and Paris, and one in the Office of the Secretary of State in Washington, D.C.

To be eligible for this Fellowship, you should apply to the Department of State for a summer internship in one of the above posts by November 2, 2009. Online applications and additional information can be found at www.careers.state.gov.

After the State Department’s selection process is complete, the College will be notified of all students who are eligible for the Harriman Fellowship. Those students will be contacted by (by mid-February, 2010), and invited to apply for a Harriman Fellowship.
