Latin/Spanish Middle-School Position in Hampton

A middle-school Latin teacher is needed for a position in a new,
state-of-the-art school in Hampton, Virginia, which will open in fall 2010.
The teacher will teach 6th Grade: intro to languages French, German, Latin,
and Spanish (what is language, 6 lessons Spanish and French,  3 lessons
German and Latin); 7th grade: level 1;  and 8th Grade level II.   Level II
instruction will begin in the 2011-2012 school year.  Latin for Americans is
the textbook currently used for Latin I and II.  Instruction is on a block schedule.
The school includes a medical and health services STEM School  so Science,
Technology Ed, and Math connections will need to be made where possible.
The teacher must also be ready to work effectively with a diverse population,
largely African American, and maintain a good rapport with students.
Participation in JCL and community involvement is encouraged.  Current
Virginia certification in Latin and willingness to pursue an endorsement in
Spanish would be ideal.

Hampton is located in the historical Tidewater region of Virginia and is the
home of Hampton University, one of the nation's historically black colleges.
Other communities in close proximity are Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Newport
News, Yorktown, and Williamsburg.
