A Message from the Chair

At William & Mary we make it our highest priority to serve our students by offering quality education and research. This mission is supported not only through Commonwealth of Virginia appropriations, tuition, and other funds provided by W&M, but also through the highly competitive funding secured by our faculty through external proposals and contracts.

The W&M Chemistry Department is recognized as one of the top undergraduate and Master’s programs in the country because of our commitment to student scholarship, blending education and research. However, with the escalating costs in our general operations, our ability to sustain this level of excellence is an on-going challenge. This is especially true as we seek to be continually improving our offerings to students. Outside funding is critical to providing important opportunities for student research, as well as maintaining and expanding our collection of research-grade instrumentation.

Current funding priorities for the Chemistry Department include undergraduate summer research, instrumentation, and scholarships. Your contribution in any of these areas, in any amount, will help our faculty members provide the best learning experience to our students.
