Undergraduate Research
The Charles Center has become a crossroads linking undergraduate students with opportunities to perform in-depth, hands-on research of all kinds.
The Center is the administrative home of the QEP / Mellon Initiative, which aims to integrate student research experiences throughout the Arts & Sciences curriculum.
The Center oversees and facilitates the Departmental Honors program for all of Arts & Sciences. All Honors students complete a two-semester long original research project that culminates in a written thesis and oral examination.
The Center also serves as a primary resource for student research funding during the summer and throughout the academic year.
Each year the Center sponsors Focus on Undergraduate Research Week, which features sessions for students on topics such as getting involved in research early, making the most of your resources, and presenting work funded by the Charles Center. The week culminates in the Showcase of Summer Research. This event is open to the public and next falls on Saturday September 19, 2009.
