Focus on Undergraduate Research Week 2009
The purpose of this week is 1) to bring attention to the exciting research being done by Charles Center-funded William and Mary undergraduates and 2) to provide W&M students with information on how to get involved in undergraduate research.
FOUR Week events include:
- MONDAY SEPTEMBER 28: an information session on Goldwater Scholarships, Churchill Scholarships, and NSF and NIH Fellowships. The perfect chance for hard science majors to discover the opportunities specifically available for them. Note: The NSF Graduate Fellowship is also available for political science, economics, anthropology, and other quantitative social science majors. (5- 6 pm, Blow 201)
- TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 29: Charles Center opportunities for undergraduate research in Summer 2010 (7-8 pm, Blow 201). Come find out about Dintersmith, Honors, and Chappell Fellowships, Jacobs and Kramer Scholarships, and many more! This session is open to all undergradute students who are not graduating in May 2010. - WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30: panel discussions on how students can get involved in SOCIAL SCIENCE research on campus (5-6 pm, Blow 201). Panelists include Professors Cheryl Dickter (Psychology) and Jennifer Mellor (Economics), Reference Librarian Mary Molineux, and Dintersmith Fellow Dina Abdel-Fattah. - THURSDAY OCTOBER 1: panel discussions on how students can get involved in HUMANITIES research on campus (5:30-6:30 pm, Blow 201). Panelists include Professors Francie Cate-Arries (Modern Languages) and Lu Ann Homza (History), Reference Librarian Paul Showalter, and Chappell Fellow Alyssa Wallace. - FRIDAY OCTOBER 2: The Meet the POUR Bloggers event has been cancelled and will be rescheduled in the spring. Have fun at Busch Gardens!
- SATURDAY OCTOBER 3: the 2009 SHOWCASE OF SUMMER RESEARCH ends the Focus on Charles Center-funded Undergraduate Research (FOUR) Week 2009 at 11 am in the Sadler Center. View the complete schedule.
