The Charles Center has become a crossroads linking students with opportunities to perform in-depth, hands-on research of all kinds.
Each year the Center sponsors Focus on Undergraduate Research Week, which features sessions for students on topics such as getting involved in research early, making the most of your resources, and presenting work funded by the Charles Center. The week culminates in the Showcase of Summer Research. This event is open to the public and will take place each fall.
Graduate students can apply for funding throughout the academic year by means of Student Research Grants and are also eligible to apply for the Virginia Crouch Memorial Research Grant, which provides research funding during the summer.
The Center also oversees and facilitates the Departmental Honors program for all of Arts & Sciences. All Honors students complete a two-semester long original research project that culminates in a written thesis and oral examination.
