Students are encouraged to consider options for community engaged learning acrossing the curriculum, within and beyond courses offered in Sharpe and the Community Studies programs. Faculty across the curriculum have integrated teaching and research activity with community engagement. Some offer courses within our programs, such as freshman seminars in the Sharpe program or advanced courses in the Community Studies minor. Others have developed existing courses in their departments to integrate community engagement, public and outreach scholarship, and community partners into the content and pedagogy of their classes. Community engaged classes are especially designed to develop students' academic skills for conducting community-based research.
