Asian Studies Initiative

As Asia continues its bold steps onto the world stage, our students have responded with increased demand for Chinese and Japanese language courses, East Asian and Asian religion courses, Asian music and theater courses, and study abroad programs in East and Southeast Asian nations. In turn, faculty members in a number of departments and programs have extended their courses – and extended the Arts & Sciences curriculum – to incorporate new content dealing with Asia.

The Asian Studies Initiative focuses and extends these offerings to explore the culture, history, and languages of Asia as a whole, including study of the Pacific Rim and the diverse Asian communities in the United States.
