Opportunities for Students

Study possibilities exist with the art and architectural resources of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Joseph and Margaret Muscarelle Museum of Art and other art museums throughout the region.

A number of work possibilities exist through the Student Aid Program, affording students experience in assisting with the art, art history and museum programs.

Students intending to pursue graduate or professional study in art may be eligible to for an additional twelve credits in Art and Art History courses. Interested students should contact the char of the department to determine eligibility. Deadline for proposals is usually March 1.

In addition to regular classes, workshops in various media are offered annually, usually in connection with exhibitions and symposia. The department hosts a lively Faculty Lecture Series complimented by distinguished visiting artists and scholars from across the nation and abroad.
