Alberta "Birdie" Boone received her M.F.A. in ceramics from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, in 2005 and her B.A. in studio fine arts from William & Mary in 1994. In 2007 she was selected to be an artist in residence at the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena, Montana, and she received the Bray’s Lincoln Fellowship in 2008. Birdie has worked and taught at Peter’s Valley Craft Center in New Jersey, Watershed Center for Ceramics in Maine, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Tennessee, and the Worcester Center for Crafts in Massachusetts, among others. She currently teaches ceramics/3D arts at Emory & Henry College in southwestern Virginia.
