Virginia Indians

There are many names for Virginia's native peoples. Sometimes they are called Native Americans or American Indians. Other times, the terms First People or First Nations are used to refer to the people in Virginia's tribes. This project uses the term Virginia Indians because many of the tribal leaders asked us to use this name. It is also important to learn the proper names of each of the eight state-recognized Virginia Indian tribes.
