Background

I am about equally involved in the applied practice of archaeological conservation and in the education and training of students and interns in that field. I try to bring a component of material science to our graduate program, as a necessary background to the methods of scientific analysis which play a crucial role in modern archaeology.  My areas of interest are pre-industrial technology and the materiel culture of the early modern period.
