Why W&M?

They say you fall in love with the first college you visit, and the others carry a mild letdown after the exhilaration of that first university tour. For me, William & Mary was that first college. I grew up practically next door, in neighboring York County. William & Mary was always on the “college radar” even before I really understood what college was, certainly before I gave serious thought to where I wanted to go to school. But when I toured the College for the first time in my junior year, it grabbed hold of me and refused to let go. I can’t tell you what specifically attracted me to W&M on that first visit, but I found myself comparing all other colleges to it, using the Tribe as a standard that no other college ever really met. When I came back to visit in my senior year, I knew it was the right choice instantly. William & Mary’s excellent academics, superior students, and even beautiful scenery all speak for themselves. But the closeness and sense of community that exists between the students and faculty is, I believe, often understated. Professors and staff truly care about the students and try to help you succeed. Our constructive, collaborative environment is the most incredible part of this phenomenal school.
