Dan Ewart, Paul Tan, and Candice VanBibber

Dan Ewart, Paul Tan and Candice VanBibber of the Office of Information Technology were the final Toasted by Admission award recipients of 2012.  The trio were chosen for its work on a variety of processes that help the Office of Undergraduate Admission accept and review the more than 14,000 online applications to enter William & Mary this fall.

Dan Ewart, System Engineer in IT started at William & Mary as an undergraduate and earned an M.S. degree along the way in his 39 years on campus. Currently he supports the Unix systems that run Banner and related processes. Ewart greatly enjoys writing and maintaing scripts that help automate Banner processes and working with a great team of engineers in IT.


Paul Tan, Applications Programming Manager in IT, started working for the College in July 2012 and has enjoyed working with users from the various offices across campus, solving problems and gaining new skills along the way.


Candice VanBibber, Web Applications Programmer in IT has been at William & Mary for three years. VanBibber enjoys meeting new challenges head-on, solving problems and knowing that her work at the College makes a real impact on the student experience.















Ewart, Tan and VanBibber were selected by a vote of the entire admission staff to receive the recognition. Associate Dean Betsy Quinzio, who nominated the team, specifically cited Paul’s and Dan’s “high levels of responsiveness and attentiveness to last minute and critical changes to our automated emails, production jobs and reports including our critical Summary Sheet, aka the Yellow Sheet” and Candice’s “technical expertise in creating export processes and functions to move data between our SRM and Banner.” She went on to note that Paul has stepped to the plate and helped to implement many changes needed to make our SRM project a success, including responding on Saturday to fix a problem with our yellow sheets and had it implemented by Monday morning and that Dan, for many years has taken very last minute changes and gotten them into production for things like our yellow sheets and automated emails to students and parents.  

To celebrate the their excellent work, the Office of Undergraduate Admission treated Candice, Dan and Paul to celebratory drinks in December.
