About Kimberly Van Deusen
Who I am:
Kim Van Deusen, Associate Dean of Admission
Favorite people: my husband, my 3 year old daugher and my fluffy golden retriever (yes, he is a person)
Seneca Valley High School (MD), Class of '90
James Madison University (VA), BS, Class of '94
Miami University (OH), MS, Class of '97
This is my 12th year in admission at W&M. Go Tribe!
What's with the photo:
Twice a week, I hurriedly change from my work clothes to my workout gear and head to the student Rec Center. I teach aerobic classes and have been a certified aerobics instructor for 8 years. Currently, I teach Step Interval and Step classes.
Why W&M:
The students, faculty and staff who make up this community are truly exceptional people. I enjoy working with and getting to know these folks who are smart, sincere, engaging and witty.
Fun Facts:
I played DI soccer at JMU for a year as a goalkeeper. I couldn’t handle the injuries so I switched to club soccer, but I wouldn’t take back that amazing year for anything. It was the first time I got to play with truly talented athletes.
Favorite shows: Mad Men, Modern Family, and Big Bang Theory.
Movies I’ve seen more than once (because they are awesome): Love Actually, Dazed and Confused, Sixteen Candles, Amadeus and Almost Famous.
Some concerts I’ve been to: Heart, Depeche Mode, They Might Be Giants, Rush, U2 and Dave Matthews
Why people make fun of me in the office: I’m not on Facebook (it’s evil) and I get teary-eyed at anything that is slightly sappy, touching, sad or uplifting (especially if it involves a dog).
