About Jennifer Scott

Jennifer ScottWho I am?
[[jenny, Jennifer Scott, Senior Assistant Dean of Admission]]
I hail from Dover, Delaware, but have lived in California, Germany and all over New England. A little piece of my heart will always be yearning for the cooler temperatures and fall foliage of Vermont as well as the craziness of Boston driving. I was a Wildcat during my undergraduate years (the University of New Hampshire ) studying Kinesiology and Communications. I completed my graduate work in Educational Policy Planning and Leadership as a member of the Tribe in 2004.

What’s with the Photo?
Williamsburg has been my home since July of 2002 and in addition to my role in the Admission Office my husband and I delight in raising our four year old daughter, two year old twins (one boy and one girl), a beloved labrador retreiver (Penelope) and a very hearty goldfish (my oldest daughter tells me never to forget her).

Why Admissions?
There is no greater joy than assisting prospective students as they begin their journey to higher education. It is a privilege to help them find a place that is a good (not perfect- that doesn't exist) fit, a privilege to help the College craft its future (each year's freshman class), and a privilege to serve as a resource to families navigating  the challenging waters of the college search. Plus, the professionals in this industry are outstanding people to be around. They look at the world in interesting ways, are eager to be open minded and are a true joy to collaborate with. That never hurts.

Why W&M?
Have you been here? If so, you can probably answer this question yourself. It is an amazing community of people. PEOPLE. They are the heart, soul and brain of a college and this place has an amazing group of folks. It's daily that I sit with my mouth ajar at the accomplishments of our students, the  support of our faculty and the general family orientation of all who walk the bricks. I'm a wholehearted believer that a campus visit is the single most important part of a student's search for an institution that truly fits.  So, come join us for a day. Sit in our classrooms, talk with our faculty, watch our students as they pass by each other en route to campus events. Get to know the tremendous personality and character of this place- for yourself.  We hope we'll get to know you too.

Fun Facts?
1. I love cheese. Done.
2. Mountains are where I'm most at home. Green, White, Swiss, the Rocky Mountains of Alberta- you name it, I probably love it there (and my husband and I may have climbed it).
3. I was a gymnast in a former life (well, it was this life, just feels like an awfully long time ago).
