Transferring Credit
William & Mary recognizes that international students may arrive on campus having completed studies equivalent to college courses. To be eligible for possible transfer credit, all students who have completed a 13-year secondary program or who have attended a university outside of the United States must submit translated syllabi for each thirteenth year or university course with their application for admission. Once these students have been admitted to the College and have declared their intention to enroll, they may be required to send their academic credentials to the American Association for Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) for preliminary determination of transferable credit. Students will be notified by the Office of Academic Advising if they are required to go through AACRAO. Application forms available from AACRAO at:
One Dupont Circle NW, Suite 520
Washington, DC 22036
1-800-293-9161

The cost of this evaluation is approximately 200.00 US Dollars. Payment should be sent with the application credentials to be received by AACRAO no later than June 1 for fall admission or January 15 for spring admission. The College understands that, for some students, final academic credentials will be unavailable until later in the summer (e.g. A-Levels which are taken in June with results arriving in August). In cases like these, students would apply to AACRAO as soon as possible.
The College will accept evaluations completed by other services such as Global Credential Evaluator and World Education Services, Inc.
Obtaining an external evaluation does not ensure the awarding of credit. Transfer credit will be granted on an individual basis in keeping with the William & Mary faculty policy.
