Dean Link's Bio

Who am I?

I was born and raised in Richmond, VA. After getting an Associate degree from Richard Bland College (William & Mary’s two year junior college) I transferred to William & Mary where I got my BA in Psychology in 2007. I loved loved loved William & Mary so much that I came back to get my Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration.

What’s with the photo?

I began taking dance lessons at the age of three and did not stop until I graduated from William & Mary. I love all types of dance but my favorite is ballet, hence the pointe shoes in the photo. As you can see, dancers’ shoes are NOT pretty. If you have ever watched one of those cheesy dance movies (I still love them regardless of the cheesiness) and wondered if it was true that dancers beat their shoes before they wear them to break them in, it is true.

Why Admissions?

I don’t think anyone who works in admissions will tell you that they dreamed of becoming an admissions officer when they grew up. Most of us just sort of fell into it and, in many cases, began lifelong fulfilling careers in what is the most fun and rewarding job EVER! For me, the most fun part of working in admissions is actually sitting at commencement and watching the students that you recruited as teenagers walk across the stage as young adults ready to take on the world! As an admissions officer, there is nothing more rewarding.

Why W&M?

Where do I even begin? William & Mary perfectly blends everything that you would want in a small liberal arts school with everything that you would want in a large research university. Where else can you work on cutting edge research that will change the world (literally) and also meet your professor for coffee for no reason? At William & Mary, you can do that.

 Fun Facts

  1. My favorite movie is Love Actually.
  2. I love to bake (especially on rainy days).
  3. Even though I used to be a dancer, I am the clumsiest person in the world. I trip, fall, drop things, break things, or a combination of each at least once a day.
