Bio of Dean Broaddus

Hometown: Richmond metro area (grew up in Hanover, Powhatan and Chesterfield)

College: Dartmouth, degree in English literature and creative writing

Proxy experiences as a W&M alumnus: One of the two best men in my wedding obtained his law and business degrees here. The other received his undergraduate degree in chemistry and his Ph.D. in applied science from William & Mary.

Greatest professional privilege: Personally signing offers of admission

Two things that would happen if I were omnipotent: The Miami Dolphins would win more games, and the FDA would enforce strict standards for what can be listed on a menu as a "club sandwich."

Literary legacy: A caption billed as a top runner-up in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest Book

Responsibilities: I oversee the admission and financial aid offices, and I bear ultimate responsibility for the enrollment division's efforts, outcomes and personnel. Fortunately, the last of these includes people who make me look good when it comes to the first two.
