Arts Submissions
Make your application sing...literally
An audition is not required for admission to William & Mary's art programs. However, if you possess a skill/talent in the creative or performing arts and are interested in continued study or application in that area at the college level, you may submit a sample of your work for review by our faculty for Music, Art, Theatre, or Dance. Samples should be submitted on or before the application deadline (November 1 for early decision, January 1 for regular decision). CDs, slides, videos or other appropriate media may be included with your application and must be accompanied by the Common Application Arts Supplement form. The following guidelines override those on the Common Application Arts Supplement form.
Theatre: Please note that the theatre department recommends that you include a content description with identification of the applicant in any group performance. The theatre department will not review scripts.
Music: Submissions to the music department should be the best quality possible and feature you as a soloist with appropriate accompaniment. the music department will not review DVDs, URL's/online videos, MP4's or large ensemble pieces.
Visual Arts: Visual arts will review drawing, painting, printmaking, architecture, ceramics, and sculpture. They will not review film or photography. Please submit multiple pieces via CD or photos. It is requested that images be saved as jpeg files as they are compatible with both Mac and PC.
All materials must fit in an 8 1/2" x 11" folder. Submitted materials become property of W&M and will not be returned.
