Veterans
With the new Post-9/11 GI Bill starting in August 2009, there are more questions than ever about how veterans can and should use their VA benefits. There are two government resources available for you if you have questions: 1-888-GI-BILL-1 and the GI Bill website. There are many variables that you need to take into consideration when determining whether you should use your Post-9/11 benefits or your Montgomery GI Bill benefits, so please do take advantage of these resources.
Payments for Post-9/11 benefits will not be processed by the VA Department until August 1, 2009. NB: The VA is currently overwhelmed with applications, so processing time is much longer than originally anticipated. They ask for your patience as they work to get all benefit certifications processed.
