William & Mary uses the CSS Profile and FAFSA for Early Decision Financial Aid Estimates. Our school code for the CSS Profile is 5115 and our school code for the FAFSA is 003705. Make sure that you select "Fall 2017/Spring 2018" for both the FAFSA and CSS Profile (as the prior academic year applications will still be available for submission).
Please set aside time (approximately one to three hours) for collecting and organizing your financial information and completing the Profile and the FAFSA. We strongly encourage the use of the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing the FAFSA. For the FAFSA you will want to make sure you set up a User ID and password for both the student and the parents. You can create a new FSA User ID and password.
Our priority filing deadline for the CSS Profile and FAFSA is 11/15, with a final date of 12/12. You will be able to submit the CSS Profile and the FAFSA after this date, but we may not be able to complete the review and create the aid estimate before The College closes for Winter break in December.
The College Board has information on the process of completing the CSS Profile and if you have questions you can contact them at 1-844-202-0524. If you have problems with the FAFSA or setting up the FSA User ID and password you will need to contact FAFSA at 1-800-433-3243.
The Office of Admission will mail Early Decision letters in early December. The Office of Financial Aid will begin emailing financial aid estimates in mid-December. If you have not completed the CSS Profile and FAFSA by our deadline, you will NOT receive an estimate.
Please note that we provide only an ESTIMATE of your financial aid at this time. Your financial aid will be created using the best estimates we have for cost. Once we have finalized figures from The Board of Visitors we will make any necessary adjustments. If we have to make adjustments to the financial aid awards, we will send out revised awards notifications.
Please note that notices of awards and revisions will be sent to the students only. It is important to have them check not only the e-mail provided on the Common Application but their assigned William & Mary e-mail as well.
