Invitations & Programs

Invitation

The most frequently asked question about wedding invitations is how to word the address of the Wren Chapel. The recommended form for a formal invitation is:

The Chapel of the Sir Christopher Wren Building
The College of William and Mary
Williamsburg, Virginia

Since the Wren Building does not have a street address, guests who are unfamiliar with Williamsburg may need help in finding the Chapel and a place to park. Some couples choose to include directions and/or a map in their invitation.

Programs

A wedding program is not necessary but may be practical in certain circumstances, including the following:

Some couples want their guests to have a brief history of the Wren Building. Click here for suggested text.

If the congregation is to sing a hymn during the service, you may want to print the words in a program, since the Chapel has a limited supply of hymnals.

The back of a program can be a good place to give directions to the reception site.
