University Communications

University Communications serves as the central communications office for the university. The office serves as the primary link to external media, publishes the online William & Mary News, and has responsibility for research communications, the university website, social media, photography and design (digital and print, including William & Mary's brand and editorial style guide).

Brian WhitsonThe office is led by Senior Associate Vice President for Communications Brian Whitson, who serves as the university's Chief Communications Officer. Whitson serves as the university's spokesperson and has responsibility for the offices of University News & Media, including research communications, and University Web & Design. In addition, Whitson is the lead for emergency communications and strategic communications, including announcements from the president, provost and Board of Visitors.

University Communications is housed within Strategy & Innovation. In addition to University Communications, the unit includes Undergraduate Admission, Financial Aid and University Marketing.
